Ductless Mini Split Filter Buying Guide

Three questions we answer every day, from the team that has been matching mini split filters since 2000.

1. Which filters do I wash, and which do I replace?

Most wall-mounted mini splits use two kinds of filters:

Filter type What it does Typical care
Main mesh screens (the large filters across the front of the coil) Catch dust and debris before it reaches the coil and fan Vacuum or rinse every 2–4 weeks during normal use. Replace when degraded, torn, warped, or permanently clogged.
Secondary filters (anti-allergy enzyme, deodorizing, Nano Platinum, Apple Catechin, photocatalytic and similar) Reduce allergens, odors and bacteria Light cleaning between changes. Replace on the manufacturer's schedule — usually once a year.

Your owner's manual sets the schedule for your exact model. Our annual filter bundles include every filter a given model needs for a year, so you don't have to work out the combination yourself.

2. How do I find my mini split model number?

  • Use the indoor unit's model number — not the outdoor unit's. They are different, and filters are matched to the indoor unit.
  • Look for the nameplate sticker, typically on the right-hand side of the unit or on the bottom edge facing the floor.
  • Model numbers usually start with a series code — for example MSZ- or MSY- (Mitsubishi), ASU (Fujitsu), or FTX / CTX (Daikin).
  • Search the full model number in the search bar at the top of any page. Every listing names the exact indoor units it fits.

Can't find it, or the label is worn? Send us a photo of the nameplate and your current filters, and a real person will match the right part.

3. What if the filter doesn't fit?

Our Compatibility Guarantee: every replacement filter and filter kit fits the indoor unit models listed on its product page — or any model our team matches for you. If it doesn't, we'll send the correct part or refund you in full, with no restocking fee, return shipping paid by us, and your original shipping refunded — even if the package has been opened. Read the full guarantee terms (Section 9).
